Her tail was dead tissue, caused by improper tail banding. One vet suggested euthanasia 'because she [would] never experience joy', but Leah at Free Spirits believed Delilah deserved a chance and sourced a second opinion. An infection had spread to her brain, causing blindness and brain damage. Emergency tail amputation was performed, and large doses of antibiotics prescribed. Delilah had a low chance of survival but is a fighter. She now lives in the special needs paddock at Free Spirits Farm Sanctuary. She knows her way and races around, narrowly dodging obstacles. Some short distance sight has returned but brave Delilah is mostly blind. This does not hold her back! Delilah uses smell and hearing and follows her boyfriend Igor. She spends her days with the special needs flock. She feels safe and happy, and skips with joy. She is very loved and Leah is grateful for her everyday - she provides strength and teaches resilience.

Alfie’s mum, like many ewes, was pregnant when sent to the abattoir. It was in the truck that she gave birth to Alfie and experienced every mother’s greatest fear – the inability to keep her baby safe. Alfie was trampled and his leg broken. He was luckier than others, and rather than face slaughter with his mum, he was taken to Shear Existence. While everything was done to save Alfie’s leg, it became clear that if it was not removed, Alfie would likely die due to infection. He deserved a chance and to feel the safety and love his mum was not given the chance to provide. Alfie’s leg was successfully removed, and he now spends his day playing with his friends, and living out his life the way he deserves- with love and a full belly.

North East Victoria is home to two sister-sanctuaries. Both are run independently and self-funded but also support each other. Free Spirits Farm Sanctuary is located in Glenrowan on eight acres. It has grown 70 animals at capacity. Every animal is rescued. Some have escaped the meat, dairy and egg industries, some have been surrendered by farmers due to disability, infertility or injury. The animals include sheep, goats, pigs, chickens, turkeys, ducks, geese, quails, rabbits and cats. At Shear Existence Sanctuary abandoned, injured, ill, and homeless animals are provided with refuge, treatment, and love. More than 40 animals call it home, along with foster animals who reside in the sanctuary until they are well enough to go to their forever home. Shear Existence Sanctuary specialises in caring for orphaned and sick lambs and sheep, however everyone is welcome! The sanctuaries rely on donations and volunteers to continue their work. This includes food, shelter, and medical, while new lambs are supported through a partnership with Lamb Care Australia. All donations go directly to the care of these beautiful residents, ensuring they can live safe, healthy, and happy lives.

Reviews

Reviews go here

["Animals","Charity","New to our range
"option1":"Default Title","option2":null,"option3":null
["Default Title
["//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Alfie2_72a44e6b-9186-4a1f-b053-ddd162a69d3b.jpg?v=1626055207","//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Delilah3_15efe7a0-2711-4968-8feb-9e206b7f300c.jpg?v=1626055207","//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Delilah2_b4191cee-8759-4e6c-a308-ea9b5472184f.jpg?v=1626055207","//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Delilah1_712180c6-484e-402b-b1f5-8b2e609d736d.jpg?v=1626055207","//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Alfie1_eaaed89f-354c-44ab-a51d-040ed990e87f.jpg?v=1626055202
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Alfie2_72a44e6b-9186-4a1f-b053-ddd162a69d3b.jpg?v=1626055207
Title
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Alfie2_72a44e6b-9186-4a1f-b053-ddd162a69d3b.jpg?v=1626055179
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Alfie2_72a44e6b-9186-4a1f-b053-ddd162a69d3b.jpg?v=1626055179
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Delilah3_15efe7a0-2711-4968-8feb-9e206b7f300c.jpg?v=1626055178
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Delilah3_15efe7a0-2711-4968-8feb-9e206b7f300c.jpg?v=1626055178
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Delilah2_b4191cee-8759-4e6c-a308-ea9b5472184f.jpg?v=1626055178
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Delilah2_b4191cee-8759-4e6c-a308-ea9b5472184f.jpg?v=1626055178
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Delilah1_712180c6-484e-402b-b1f5-8b2e609d736d.jpg?v=1626055178
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Delilah1_712180c6-484e-402b-b1f5-8b2e609d736d.jpg?v=1626055178
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Alfie1_eaaed89f-354c-44ab-a51d-040ed990e87f.jpg?v=1626055178
https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0864/2280/products/Alfie1_eaaed89f-354c-44ab-a51d-040ed990e87f.jpg?v=1626055178

Delilah was found alone in a paddock walking in circles.
